The BIG Question!

Goooooooooood morning everyone!

I had a fantastic weekend! Want to hear what happened? Well alrighty then :)

So, Saturday morning Seth surprised me with a 90-minute massage at a quaint little spa in the Avenues. Yes, please!

After the rejuvenating rub down and Lavender oil treatment, Seth and I met up and headed into a cozy room, with sofa's perfectly lined with white pillows, where we have talked in previous times at The Kura Door. We joked and laughed and talked of our plans for the rest of the day.















Then, out of the blue, Seth started to get quite sentimental on me. Considering that he isn't usually the mushy type (more understated I'd say), I was a tad bit surprised by his deep and thoughtful words. While hopes for the future with me and the Little Dude were being said, he spoke of friendship, love, commitment, and building a life together. And then, when it was silent for just a moment he said,


"I have a question for you..."

My eyes were curious.

I'm pretty sure I smirked at him.

My heart raced!

Could this be it?

Our eyes focused in on one another and then, with the most genuine smile I think I've ever seen on his face he asked,

"Will you marry me, Jacy?"

Before he could even finish saying my name

"YES!" I said, throwing my arms around him.

We embraced and tears flooded my eyes. We kissed and hugged for a long while. And then, pulling away, he said with that same endearing smile

"So, do you want to see your ring?"

"WHAT!?" I screamed, "You have a ring!?"

"Uh! Yeah... of course I have a ring... what'd you think?" he laughed.

"Now, close your eyes... like you tell Little Dude to do when you have a surprise for him..."

I closed my wet eyes- barely squinting only enough to peak a little bit.

He reached his hand into his white fluffy spa kimono, pulled out a suede cloth and began to unwrap it. I anxiously closed my eyes again- but this time, no peaking!

"Okay... open them." he whispered.

And there it was. The most gorgeous piece of jewelry my eyes have ever seen. We had never looked at rings together- in fact, I told him in passing (months ago) that I'd be just fine with a silver band... that I didn't need anything fancy... I never expected something as exquisite as this.


I threw my arms around him again and I wept on his shoulder.

"Really!?" I questioned. "Are you serious?"

"Yes! Really! I had it custom made just for you.... Shall we see if it fits?"

As I extended my trembling left hand toward him, we both laughed. I could hardly hold still... but when he slid the breathtaking and perfectly fitting ring onto my left finger, the most overwhelming sense of love and reassurance raced through my veins.

For a minute there, I was speechless.

The ring is timeless; truly stunning. The most beautiful thing I have ever been given.

But it's not the size of the diamond, the way it's cut or the price tag that make it so valuable to me. It's what composes the MAN who gave it to me that is of so much worth. You see, this ring is a reminder of a solid human being- an individual who has clawed his way of out unbelievable disappointment and loss, becoming even more incredible because of it. This ring is a symbol of a new found trust and belief and courage- for us both. This ring resonates maturity, responsibility, and character. This ring, to me, is the start of a new, and very promising, life with my best friend.

I'm positively enamored with the ring... but I'm SMITTEN with who it's linked to even more!

The rest of our weekend was spent eating good food, staring at my ring, golfing 9 holes, staring at my ring, Park City shopping, staring at my ring, announcing the news over the phone to our screaming mom's (although, both sets of parents already knew- Seth is sneaky ;), staring at my ring, and talking about the fun details of when this new family will start!

Life has dealt me a lot of change these past few years. It hasn't been easy. It hasn't been what I initially planned. But because of it all, I was blessed with a RARE gentleman, asking me a pretty special question, and I couldn't have been more happy to say "YES"!

Little Dude was equally excited when we told him the news last night. He said with a big ol' cheesy grin on his face,

"I get TWO dads- my real dad and my step-dad! I think it's pretty awesome!"
