I don't watch television... hardly ever. Not the news, not Saturday Night Live, not Modern Family, nothing. If the T.V. is on in our house, it's either for a midday showing of Wall.e or 10 minutes of Little Einstein's before preschool. In fact, I have no idea what shows are even on anymore. I guess because it's something that I haven't been into in years and years (like the last decade or so), it's no longer intriguing for me.
I'm not super opinionated about the topic (one way or another), but I'm curious to know if you are?
Soooo.... YAY or NAY on television? Are you a diehard show follower? If so, which ones and why? If not, how come?

I love tv but my best friend does own one. When people find out that she doesn't watch tv, they can't believe it . They act like she's in the dark ages! I think tv is great but you can live a full life without one
ReplyDeleteHiiii JACY!
ReplyDelete:)
About watching TV, in my family everybody has a separate timing for their show. But Nobody is a die hard Tv watcher. Except my father watching cricket. :D
For me its okay kinda even if I don't watch. fact is I hardly get time.

We have not had TV since the 1st part of December when we moved from AK back to UT. I guess I would say nay ;)
ReplyDeleteBUT I must add, I watch weekly online shows of the office (when in season) with Darren.. ;0
DeleteWe don't have cable because we simply don't watch TV. But we will occasionally watch something on hulu. :)
ReplyDeleteYay...I admit that I love TV and I get really excited to watch the many shows I follow. A lot of the time though I save them up and watch in a chunk online, so it's not like I'm watching TV every night. My fiancee loves sports so we need TV in our house :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say I didn't watch tv, I would be much more productive. I don't think I watch a ton, but I do have my shows that I follow. In fact they are all premiering this week and I am so excited!
ReplyDeletenot really.....where we live there is no option for cheap or free basic tv so it makes our choice even easier. we went through a period of time where we realized that there just isn't anything worth our time, except for some show on discovery or history.....sometimes we'll buy a season of a show.....or put money into high quality dvds.....but I do let my kids watch some of the older children shows on netflix.....i love watching them watch shows i grew up on....sesame street, etc.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that! We bought six seasons of Cosby on DVD so that when our kids get older and tv shows are even worse, they can have some thing to watch.
DeleteI don't know when people have time for tv! When I started blogging I pretty much gave up tv. Not that one or the other is any better...
ReplyDeleteBut I do love me some college football so in the Fall our little fam spends Saturday afternoons in front of the tube.
Yes and No. When we had cable, we watched it. Not obsessively but we had a lot of shows that we liked.
ReplyDeleteNow we don't have cable and it's just fine. I thought it would be a hard transition but its really not. We do have Netflix, though, to keep us entertained on those nights when we just wanna stay in and cuddle up to a good flick :)
and Jacy, we totally watch those Einstein movies tooo! ALL. THE. TIME. mine are the really old vhs copies. lol.
I could count how many times I watched TV on one hand in college (besides conference). I have a hard time sitting down for movies and etc.
ReplyDeleteHowever, by recommendations of friends (and girls I carpooled with who talked nothing except TV shows they watched), I began watching: Once Upon a Time and Downton Abbey.
I will let our children watch TV, but I am really careful about what. We don't watch anything now that we wouldn't want our kids to see and have made that our guideline. The same goes for magazines or anything like that. If I'm going to bring it into our home I will rip out any ads or stories that might be compromising BEFORE it comes into our house. It should be of no surprise that the only magazines that get in are about housekeeping and recipes.
I grew up watching a lot of TV and have many good memories of favorite shows and TGIF that I treasure and love quoting and referencing with my siblings and friends. However, I currently haven't owned a TV in 3 years and haven't missed it once...I am too busy for TV! But I am not against it. I just think there's a time and a place. Plus there's always Hulu if I want to grab an episode of Psych or something :)
ReplyDeleteI am a TV show addict. We don't have cable, but I watch everything online. I LOVE way too many shows. It's bad. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a Hulu watcher while I work, but before I discovered Hulu at work, I hadn't watched TV since I turned 18 and moved out of my parents house. I think a lot of people find inspiration through characters on a show. My inspiration comes more through reading a novel. I guess it just depends on what brightens people up, so I'm not opposed to people who do watch a lot of it. However, I still hold on to the founding principle that there should be moderation in all things :)
